Background and History

The first Welsh Festival of the Horse was held in 2006 and attracted thousands of visitors to the beautiful  setting of Margam Park.  Families enjoyed a mix of spectacular stunt riding, elegant side-saddle displays, frenetic Pony Club games, tiny and adorable ponies and the gentle giants, Shire horses.

The event was organised by the Welsh Equine Council, who wanted to raise the profile of equestrian sport in Wales and encourage wider participation and access to equestrianism.

The event in 2010 will be run by a bigger consortium, with new partners joining the established team.  Greyhound Rescue Wales, the leading greyhound charity will be organising the dogs' events.

Arena Pontardawe will be bringing their experience of event management and local contacts on board.  The Knights of Arkley, a renowned equestrian display team will be leading the co-ordination of the main ring events, ensuring a spectacular visual feast for all visitors.  Join us for an event worth waiting for!
